Life In Fandom: Your Island (Player Handbook)
Fandom is based physically on Mont St Michel. It's small. We're all living on top of each other. The streets are really tiny and there are a ton of outdoor stairs. Scooters, bicycles, rickshaws/pedicabs, foot traffic and motorcycles only. All cars must be left in the parking lot on the outskirts of town near the causeway to the mainland. There are very few abandoned buildings. There are also very few duplicate businesses. Please do not make up NPC businesses on-island. (Off-island, whether on the mainland or in your home universe? Go nuts.)
There is a list of all businesses, including NPC businesses in the Fandom Town Directory. If you need a service or store that's not there, please have your character go to the mainland, or if you think it's important enough to become a regular feature, apply a character to run such a business or suggest it to the admins as a new NPC store.
You can access a map of Fandom here as well as detailed, clickable maps of the school campus and dorms
Exposure and Privacy: If your characters are having a conversation in a public place, you're leaving yourself open to interaction with others, either through interruptions or eavesdropping. If you want it to be private, do it in a private place (like a closed dorm room, closet, etc) or make an in character effort to keep your voices down.
Fandom Radio: The Fandom Radio broadcasts (ie: what is said on the air) are IC knowledge. Once you click a link in the Fandom Radio posts, the information (ie: the actual scene) becomes OOC knowledge. If you don't want a scene broadcast, label it "NFB" (Not For Broadcast), otherwise it's up for grabs and will likely be reported to the public. More details about how the radio works can be found in the [Bad username or unknown identity: fandom-radio> comm. Weapons: Weapons -- things that can only, obviously, be a weapon -- are not allowed on the Fandom High campus outside of the firing range or fencing salle. (This is an IC rule; if your character wants to break it and is discreet about hiding them, it won't be an OOC problem.) Weaponry in town falls under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff's department and is fine so long as you don't go waving the weapons around and causing trouble in public. Crime and Punishment: Fandom Town has clone troopers that patrol the town, as well as a Sheriff and staff of PC officers. Expect violations of the law to be met with appropriate consequences. If you are interested in having a major physical clash anywhere in public where it would be noticed, please be sure to contact the Sheriff or Principal Winchester (for on-campus altercations) so they can react appropriately. More on IC Rules, Security and Getting Caught: can be found <a href=]here.
Townies on Campus: Townies are welcome to come onto the school campus to visit the library, to visit other adults during office hours, to visit a class by invitation of the teacher, for major events (such as sports games, plays and gamewide invasion events aka BDEs) and to join in on activities on the first floor of the dorms. However, we do ask that they not enter the dorms above the first floor unless for a specific plot-related reason. (Otherwise known as "Your character can make out with their townie boyfriend to your heart's content, but not in their dorm room, yo.")
Learning New Abilities: If you are interested in having your character learn an ability/gain a power that they could not normally learn in their own canon, please see this post for more details.
Wildlife: Please don't have new forms of wildlife (whether totally made up or taken from a show/movie/other canon) take up residence in Fandom without running it by the admins first. This is to ensure that we don't get swamped with dozens of different animals on a very small island.
