Jono was in a pretty secent mood, all things considered. He was human shaped this weekend, which helped with that somewhat. The stereo was cooperating with him, which was always a win. And Joni had tagged along with him on his way to work, settled cozily into one of the deep pockets of his long coat.

So, of course, he was playing Joni Mitchell music on the stereo while it was willing to play along, and he was following along on his guitar while Joni stalked his boot lace.

It was a nice, laid-back Saturday complete with bonus cat. He'd take it.

Jalian was still tweaking her Doorway, and if she were honest with herself, maybe dithering a bit. She needed to return and stop Armageddon, but she was in no hurry to subject herself to that backwards skip again, or to the long job ahead.

So instead she was doing everything she could to improve and enhance it with knowledge from this timeline and everything JARVIS could tell her about others.

She made a few more tweaks, then stepped back and cycled the power. "How's that, JARVIS?"

Feeling a little restless that evening, Summer moseyed on down to the common room to make some popcorn and flip through some TV channels, looking for something good. Really, she'd realized that sitting in front of the TV was sometimes where she felt most at home, and, man, wasn't that sad? But it was true, and it was a good way to unwind a bit when she didn't really have anything better to do.

Not much on TV on a Friday night, although she did get sucked into one of movies where some lady gets blown up to a gigantic size because of radiation or aliens or something. She couldn't explain exactly why it sucked her in so much. The premise was completely ridiculous, but she was just so weirdly fascinated by it. Didn't make sense, and yet there she was.

Giant women. So dumb.

Defence Class spent a lot of time hitting things with swords - favorite hobby of mine - and in Vehicle Class we had a movie day.

That weird guy at Turtle and Canary spent his day being weird by yelling about sleep. And the new girl has been poking around the shelves at Groovy Tunes. Look, Starsmore, I don't do reshelving, okay?

... Unless there's interesting *microphone feedback* in there.

Otherwise, besides the garden chess at Luke's, not a whole lot of *feedback* going on. Good, 'cause I'm late for work. Later!

"Today," Hannibal said once everybody had arrived, "we are going to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. That is the capital city in a country far to the east of here. The Mongolian people come from a nomadic tradition, and much of their cuisine is meat- and dairy-based. There are also a number of influences from neighboring traditions."

He led them through the portal and onto a fairly ordinary-looking street across from, of all things, a mall. "Our restaurant for the day will be Modern Nomads." There was a coffee shop across from this one, too. At least it wasn't an American chain? "You will find many traditional foods here, from bone soup to noodle dishes. Lamb is a popular meat."

He led them into the restaurant. "They use local meats and ingredients, and also include plenty of greens for those of you who might prefer not to eat so much meat. I'll be getting several of the sharing plates for the table. The local language is Mongolian, but many will also speak some English. Or," he added with a nod to Kaylin, "Chinese."

They were brought to their table, and he gestured for them to be seated. "Please enjoy, and as always, let me know if you have any questions."

There was also a large garden chess set set up in the middle of the restaurant for kids to play with. Hardison, who was still brooding over the weekend more than was probably healthy, was only too glad to nod at a wizened old Latino man and join him at his table for a game or two. Getting his ass whupped by a secret chess ninja was a good way to take his mind off of imagining what had happened to Noah.

It was also a fun way to annoy the hell out of Sterling, because of course Hardison was texting Olivia and then telling Sterling about their conversation.

Yeah, yeah, I'm late, I know. Sorry, yo, them weird weekends always screw up my sense of time. Spent all day yesterday thinkin' it was Tuesday. But it was Wednesday, an' here's everythin' that happened yesterday.

School started off with Fightin' an' Fabulosity got to go to the mall an' pick out clothes that were cute an' capable of concealing weapons. Man, that sounds like a class Sophie would teach, too. Also, my apologies for folks out there wearin' clothes designed for ladies an' think that pockets are for chumps. Healin' Power of Crystals had a rant from Deadpool about folks not takin' his class seriously. This bein' the same class he bough fifty cent crystals for. Go figure. Magic of Plants was temporarily turned into Magic of Puppies for the day, an' Zack stopped by to chat with Karla. Over in the Library, the books were puttin' on a literal three-ring circus, but Peridot didn't pay any attention at all.

Dorms had an upset Ada from the weekend, but Isabela showed up to help comfort her an' I ain't lookin' at anythin' you squirrels are doin', dammit. Ain't my business.

In Town, Groovy Tunes was tryna drive Lucille mad with terrible music. Covent Gardens is debatin' carryin' "sorry I turned into somethin' weird" bouquets, an' Ino was back in uniform at Pick Your Poison, with Lucille comin' in to see what exactly was bein' sold.

That's it for notes an' that's it for me! Have a good week y'all!

But she'd missed out on music all her life. That included damn near all music. So for now, she was content to be grabbing CDs from the shelves at random and seeing what they contained. No prejudice.

She was also taking a closer look at some of the instruments being sold at the store, today. Trying to guess at what they sounded like and how they were supposed to be played.

She probably needed to think about getting a phone. So she could Google these things.

Peter himself had spent the weekend handwavily as a very confused doctor-turned-pirate-turned-governor, and as far as he knew hadn't actually bothered anyone, but he was beginning to wonder if this was a usual thing.

So, he was taking time out today to troll through all the catalogues he had, looking to see what sorts of "Sorry I turned into x" bouquets were available.

There were actually several worlds that had them in stock. He couldn't decided if that was worrying or comforting.

The Danger Shop was a mall today: a mall that was all clothing stores in a vast array of styles. And class was meeting by an escalator, where Isabelle was standing next to a table. On the table were items that the students were going to find familiar.

"Everyone, pick up the weapons from our first class together," Isabelle said, gesturing at the weapons in question. "Today, we're going shopping."

Spoken like someone who loved shopping, and expected them to feel the same.

"Specifically, you're all going go around the mall and assemble outfits that are both stylis and also convenient for concealing whatever weapon you picked. And ––" She held up a finger. "–– before anyone complains about this putting some of you at a disadvantage because your weapons may be harder to conceal... Tough. That's part of the lesson." And she wasn't saying that unkindly. It genuinely was part of the lesson. "Sometimes you have to work around disadvantages, because life is not fair, and it's even less so when it comes to any meaningful form of fighting. So, best learn to live with it."

She'd been serious for a second there.

So, time for a smirk: "Now, off you go. Shop!"

Yeah, that's not making feel any worse about whatever it was skipping me.

There were classes up at the School, where Archaeology sorted valuable garbage from junk, and Try Not to Die went to a desert in Namibia, but apparently it's too hard if there are dragons and bears. Khadgar read about alternate dimensions in the Library.

Once more, the Dorms were pretty quiet, and in Town, Lucille and Peridot were on the beach, talking about umbrellas and robot ducks, as you do. Miracle Guy stayed home 'repairing his cart'. Summer cleaned at Needful Things, the music was complaint worthy at Groovy Tunes, Taako realised the futility of looking for an invisible umbrella at Fantasy CostCo, Nathan sent apology notes to people who wanted bouquets from Covent Gardens, Zack had to deal with singing frogs at Furnado, the stock rooms were misbehaving at the Post Office, and Hannibal cooked and served for two students' date. After checking on her current stock and putting more out, Ino puttered around at the front counter, working through notebooks and keeping track of which formulas were selling, which weren't, and which might be interesting to try next.

There were a couple of special orders that had come in, which pleased her, but she'd start dealing with them after the store had closed for the day.

"'Cause I don't. I'm not here to Good Will Hunting or Dead Poet Society you. I'm barely here to Night at the Museum you!"

He dropped one of those paperweight geodes on the ground at the front of the class, looking disappointed when it didn't shatter.

Puppies!

There were four roly-poly puppies with Karla today, looking very solemn and trying to sit very still, even though their little noses were twitching like crazy taking in all these new scents. "Hello!" Karla greeted the class, making no mention of the four puppy-sized balls of floof by her feet. "Today we're going to learn to make essential oils from plants. Essential oils are basically the building blocks of anything with fragrance, from perfumes to scented candles to lotions and creams. Various types of essential oils have different uses; a few drops of clove and rosemary oils in a diffuser can make your home smell lovely, while several drops of lemongrass oil can keep mosquitos away, and just lemon oil is a natural cleanser. Essential oils made from even just one plant can have multiple uses. Lavender, for example, is said to be a calming scent, and can be added to teas to act as a stomach soother, and can help with insomnia. Because it's such a multipurpose oil, today we're going to learn how to make lavender essential oils, though this method can be used with any scented plant you have access to."

There were multiple homemade distilleries set up, one for each student, and at each station was a large armload of dried lavender plants. The distilleries were made up of pressure cookers, rubber tubing, a bucket of ice, and an essencier. "If you finish in an hour, you can make bath salts," Karla continued, pointing to her desk where yet more items were piled. "And, if you finish that, too..." One of the puppies managed to fall over. From a sitting position, yes. Karla knelt and scooped him up. "If you finish making the oils and the bath salts and there's still time? There are puppies to play with."

"So one thing they don't really tell you about archaeology is that you need an eye for detail, since sometimes the only difference between a significant find and a bunch of junk is that the first is really, really old junk. It can take years to learn how to tell valuable junk from the rest of the garbage." There were a great many reasons she'd gotten into focusing on droids and weapons, and only most of them involved credits. "But since I'm awesome, instead of picking through trash, I'm gonna go have you try and find specific items from this vault here, because hey, even when it's all valuable some loot's better than others. But there's a time limit, so look fast."

Also people were going to start shooting at them halfway through, but Aphra figured she'd let that be a surprise. Keep them on their toes.

Zack was never quite sure about what to do when somebody brought in a pet that wasn't a dog or a cat (or, these days, a chicken), but he always tried to do the best he could for them once they were here.

It was just that sometimes, sometimes, the pets that came in were far too similar to other things that he was familiar with, and he couldn't quite wrap his head around how one might safely go about keeping them as pets in the first place.

So, yeah, he was side-eyeing the frog that somebody had surrendered pretty heavily. And the person who had surrendered it, too. The vet staff thought he had finally lost it when he refused to touch the thing, saying that he had too much work today and webbed fingers made that sort of thing difficult. They thought he was doubly crazy when he told them to cover their ears if it looked like the frog was going to start singing.

It took him much more of the day than he cared to admit before he realized that Earth frogs were way less interesting than the ones from the jungle out in Gongaga, where he'd grown up.

Good morning, Fandom. I'm glad yesterday seemed to have been fairly normal, as far as anything here is ever normal. This is Rey, with your morning notes.

At school, Science class had a chicken and talked about animals and someone called Darwin, Getting to Know Your Own Backyard took it easy with a moon walk, and Understanding Holidays learned about Halloween. Summer and Gratuity talked about the weekend and a conversation they'd had, and the rest of us had to show off costumes. And Gratuity spent her library shift explaining to people back home why she didn't call this weekend.

In town, Alluka was at Demon Marcus, telling her bunny how glad she was that she had a normal weekend. You and me both. Jyn and Hannibal did not, with him offering her some information he remembered, and this all feels very strange to read on radio so I won't. At MCA, Hera and Kanan had a well-earned dinner, and at Luke's, Eliot wanted to set out comfort foods after the weekend. Kanan came in to apologize for missing his shift and to talk about... being embarrassed about not being a cat?

*chittering*

Oh. That's what happens when you change back? Oh.

Anyway, Parker required waffles in order to process the weekend, and Eliot and Hardison just got clingy. Shiemi was mixing something together at Covent Garden, and Kenzi had post-weekend specials at Caritas.

That's all I have. Just remember, this coming weekend will probably be normal.

She stopped muddling the ingredients a moment to turn back a few pages of the book on the counter in front of her and then used some smelly black grounds to create a small magical diagram around the mixing bowl.

Okay, yes. Totally safe.

Well. The weekend had been... eventful. And class had been a nice distraction. And, hell, Kanan had stopped by work and had a good chat with Eliot that afternoon about plenty of things that he'd been afraid to admit to himself, though he'd maybe been warming up to the idea of them, somewhat.

And now he was back at home, standing in the kitchen, looking thoughtfully down at a couple of nerf steaks in a frying pan as Stance pranced around the kitchen floor with the telltale clack-clicky-clack of a happy dog on linoleum who was hoping to score some nerf for himself.

"Okay," he said, smirking a little as he tossed the dog a chunk of meat. "But just this once. Hera and I have earned this meal this week. All you had to do was not torment the flamingos."

Where did the island get this stuff?

That was the first thought on Isabelle's mind when she woke up early on Monday morning. She'd spent the weekend as some version of herself with a different face, who dressed like Simon used to (what was with that flannel shirt around her waist all the time?), and who had a crush on Valentine, of all people. On top of being very very sweet and naive and so much more innocent than Isabelle herself could ever remember having been.

It was a lot to unpack. So she was left wondering where the hell Fandom managed to dig all this stuff up from.

... Well, no. Actually, the first thing in her mind this morning was the same thing that was also the first thing that came out of her mouth: "Oh, thank the Angel." She was back. She was Isabelle Lightwood, Shadowhunter, lover of whips and low-cut dresses, and there was no other version she'd rather be.

The second thought on her mind, that was about how Fandom did this to people.

The third one made her look over and find the spot next to her on the bed empty – predictably. Anything else would've been pretty rude of Flick on several levels, and he wasn't like that. So, she called out, with her voice still hoarse from sleep, "Jon? You there?"

The classroom this week was decorated with orange and black and the occasional cobweb to really drive the point home of what might be the theme of the day.

One teacher was dressed up in a costume that had something to do with the weekend he'd had. "Welcome back. Hopefully your weekend wasn't too awful."

His involved building a hot tub on the roof of his building. Honestly, he was impressed that it was structurally stable.

The other one was slightly better? Maybe? "Today we're going to discuss Halloween," Steve said. "A holiday originally meant to celebrate the beginning of autumn--Samhain, in Irish."

"All Hallows' Eve when Christianity showed up," Tony added. "The idea was that on that day, spirits could roam free as the barriers between worlds thinned."

Spoooky.

"Which doesn't explain your outfit," Steve said. "At all."

"Ignore the jealous wolf in the room, kids," Tony said without missing a beat. "Somehow this tradition evolved into a sort of agreement of bribery. Treats would be given so the spirits would remain appeased and not harm anyone."

"That gradually morphed into paying the local kids off with candy so they didn't egg your door," Steve said dryly, "but only in certain countries, America being primary."

You couldn't see, but Tony was totally looking thoughtful about the egging. You could see the amazing cardboard helmet tilt to the side, though. "Capitalism at it's finest. In some cities it's a night for, well, some call it mischief. Others call it massive amounts of public and private property damage and vandalism."

And drinking. Always drinking.

"We're not going to encourage you in the mischief," Steve said sternly, "but we're giving you a bunch of costuming options. Pick one out and tell us why you chose it."

"And you get candy out of the deal to prepare for the holiday. The good stuff." He didn't let Steve pick old people candy. You're welcome.

So apparently the kitchen staff's alternate selves had had . . . some kind of drama, over the weekend, and now none of them were talking to each other. So when Eliot got to the diner after doing a circuit on the island looking for his partners -- he hadn't managed to keep track of either of them all weekend, so, you know, that was just great -- they hadn't gotten anything put together for the day's menu.

"Big greasy breakfast," Eliot suggested.

The staff blinked at him.

"You know, comfort foods?"

They stared more. Eliot growled.

"Get to work."

Tip had spent her morning explaining to J.Lo that the reason why she didn't call him all weekend was that she was another version of herself who'd befriended a Boov named "Oh" instead of one named "J.Lo" and helped defeat the Gorg by giving him back his children, who were all locked in a crystal on top of Smek's Grand Highboov staff.

J.Lo had responded by pouting and saying that if she was too busy to talk to him she should just say so instead of making up stupid stories, and hung up on her.

She spent her afternoon looking up self-help books on how to deal with co-dependent friends.

"So, uh, did everyone here have a good weekend? Bad weekend? Mentally or emotionally scarring weekend? I was a cat for most of it," Kanan said, looking faintly irritated at the island in general, "and then I was naked in the park. I figure that means I just about break even. Either way," he glanced at Hera. "We're going for an easy week, this time around. Complete with enviro-suits and a moon walk."

Hera still wasn't entirely sure about this weekend, and was a bit more subdued than last week. "Your planet's own moon is low-gravity and lacks most of an atmosphere, but it's otherwise pretty good for walking around on. I bet it could be terraformed into a good place. For now, we'll still need those enviro-suits, though."

"They're not pretty, but they'll keep you from dying a horrible death in an airless void," Kanan agreed. And then tilted his head. "I guess it isn't everyone's planet here either, is it? Eric's moon. For the rest of us it's a loaner."

There you go, Eric. You had your very own moon.

"Suit up," Kanan continued, "and we'll get going. This is gonna at least be a quick trip there, and then we can walk around a bit. Enjoy the view. That sort of thing."

"I understand there's a few things up there from past trips, so maybe we can do a bit of scavenging, too," Hera said. "Clean the place up and get anything useful."

"If we find any interesting droids, maybe we can swap them out for Chopper," Kanan quipped. Aaaand then he laughed and made a little jog into the cockpit before Chopper could get him with that stunner of his.

Hera rolled her eyes.

"The radio made it sound like the weekend was really confusing," Alluka confided to her bunny as they set up for the day of work.

They needed cookies, tea, a blanket for snuggling into if they got tired of trying on clothes (which wasn't likely to happen, but it could, and so she was prepared for it) and if anything weird had happened to her over the weekend, Alluka hadn't noticed.

Neither had her friends.

"I'm glad we weren't confused," Alluka said, waiting for the water for her tea to heat. She paused and then tilted her head at her bunny. "Do you think we still would've liked tea parties if we'd been confused?"

The bunny rather thought so.

"That's good, isn't it?" Alluka said, relieved. "It wouldn't have been too bad, then, if we would have still had that. Still, I think I'm glad it didn't happen." It didn't take too much to confuse her, not really. "What kind of clothes should we try on today?"

"Today we'll be talking about sciencing animals," Philomena said brightly. The chicken on her shoulder looked bored. "They say we're all made of the same stuff, like tissue paper and organs and bones and stuff. That's cos of a thing called evolution, which Charles Darwin invented in the 19th century. He wrote this book called the Origin of Species, and his invention was the big twist at the end: humans weren't special, we were made of bits of monkey."

She nodded sagely. She'd done a special on this. She knew stuff.

"Of course, it was a bit unrealistic, as twists go," she said, "Cos you can't see evolution, can you? Monkey bones--" Let's just say she didn't say 'bones' and leave it at that, "Aren't quite shaped as human bits, are they? They're sort of squishy and small, like little people, but harier."

What had this class been about, again? "Darwin claimed we were all family. Not just of monkeys, also of meerkats and rhinos and elephants and birds and beetles and squid and ants and cuttlefish and those weird spiny things that live underwater and maybe even like, flowers and plants and stuff, so really that bit of moss you find in the shower in the morning might be an aunt or an uncle." Beat. "Not sure where it keeps its bits, though."

She pointed at the chicken on her shoulder. "I think this one might be a cousin," she said. "I've got this uncle who looks a bit chickeny, like, or at least he walks funny, kind of like a squiggle." She mimed the squiggle with her fingers.

"Anyway, there's like, a big animal family tree that people drew, but I can't really read it 'cos I can't find my mum on it so it's hard to figure out where I started. Which also makes me doubt this Darwin chap, lazy bugger, couldn't actually be arsed to work all of this out. So I tried to work it out, but I got distracted."

Which would explain the large 'family tree' at the back of the class, which, upon closer inspection, made no sense at all. She'd just sort of filled things in where they made sense. Bees and birds were related, weren't they? Like directly. They made babies, anyway, which was a bit disgusting since they were family, kind of like hillbillies.

... which was scribbled right underneath that particular part of the tree.

"I need your help to finish it," she said. "So get your laptops out and help me fill this thing in. Don't forget to put yourselves in, like. Don't be like Darwin, he's a lazy f--"

Since Clint was actually in his right mind this weekend, he decided it might be a good idea to check on the gym and make sure everything was okay. Thankfully, he was just missing some employees, who he figured didn't realize what they were supposed to be doing.

Once he knew who was missing, he settled in at the main desk, cranked up some music on his iPod, and started going through the mail. The pile had gotten dangerously high from days of him ignoring it all.
