Vail Ski Resort | Sunday Morning, 10/17

The Fandomites' last morning in Vail dawned cool and clear, the resort warm enough to get by with a light jacket, the slopes above frosty and crisp.

The portal back to Fandom would arrive after lunch, so now was time for packing, last-minute souvenir-shopping, or one final lift up the mountain to the wonderful land of snow-sports.

Or alternatively, freaking the heck out in your hotel room because Fandom knows no boundaries of distance or decency when it comes to attacking its current and former residents in their sleep to leave ladybits where manbits used to be, and manbits where... you get the picture.

So might the maid, if you forgot to leave the Do Not Disturb sign out.

"As long as they know..." Maladicta frowned down into her now empty cup. "Would the lady like anything while I get more coffee?"

Oh yeah, someone was enjoying this.

Faramir blinked, the thought of coffee or any other drink strange for a moment.

"Another hot chocolate," he answered when his mind caught up.

Bowing low, Maladicta grinned. "Of course, m'lady."

Yeah, she was mean. But she came back with the drinks and what appeared to be a series of numbers on her cup. "I think one of them gave me a code."

It was a shame that kicking her under the table would have no influence.

"A code to what?" Faramir asked confused. He was perhaps frowning a little towards the counter, but that might have been coincidence.

"I'm not certain." People were lucky she managed to figure out the voicemail thing.

She placed the hot cocoa in front of Faramir before taking her seat once more.

"Thank you," he said absently, cradling the cup in his hands. "They're numbers. I would assume she'd wish for you to be able to find her later."

"Ah, with one of those Gooseberries people have?" No, that would be Blackberries. And still no.

"I do not know what that is," Faramir said slowly. "I do not see why she does not simply ask you now if that is what she desires."

"Women tend to talk around the subject at hand." Really. "No matter, I got my coffee."

Faramir laughed softly. "So would you turn down a beautiful lady in favour of coffee?"

"If they can't get to the point..."

Totally yes.

He shook his head and drank sipped carefully from the hot chocolate. "Perhaps she worried that I would overhear and would put her in her place."

"Protecting my honor?" Maladicta asked, leaning forward against the table.

Ah.

She might perhaps look very different now, but there was still something that made her distinctly Maladicta. Enough that it made him not draw back. "It is rather impolite to attempt to steal away the attention of another woman's companion," he said.

"So it's a matter of manners?"

Re: Bailey's Coffee House

[identity profile] thinkbetterofme.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is a matter of knowing boundaries," he corrected. There was a difference there. One based on how others were viewing them at the moment, or something.

Or something indeed.

Maladicta leaned forward just a little further. "And what boundaries are those?"

[identity profile] thinkbetterofme.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Did I not already say?" he asked quietly, his voice not quite as low as he would have expected it. "Would you step in if were here with another?"

That did not sound quite as he had intended it to.

"Well, you are the only one I've met here so far..." This was all his fault for being such a terribly pretty woman. And for Maladicta feeling the need to brush back some of that hair.

Sure, it exposed some neck because, um, vampire. But that was just reflex.

[identity profile] thinkbetterofme.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Reflex. Right. It seemed Faramir's were not working as well as he could only blink and somewhere he lost track of what he had been saying.

"So far?"

"We do have until the afternoon before we leave, someone could always show up."

"They could," he agreed. "And you hope that they will give you their code as well?"

If they were blond maybe...

"While the lady I'm with is still here?"

[identity profile] thinkbetterofme.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"I believe that was the question we started out with," he laughed and shook his head. "You did not quite answer."

Re: Bailey's Coffee House

[identity profile] inneedofcoffee.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course not! Because that would just make this terribly awkward.

Like how she was leaning forward to steal a kiss before having to answer that one. Because that was just what everyone needed here. More confusion about genders!
