Vail Ski Resort | Sunday Morning, 10/17

The Fandomites' last morning in Vail dawned cool and clear, the resort warm enough to get by with a light jacket, the slopes above frosty and crisp.

The portal back to Fandom would arrive after lunch, so now was time for packing, last-minute souvenir-shopping, or one final lift up the mountain to the wonderful land of snow-sports.

Or alternatively, freaking the heck out in your hotel room because Fandom knows no boundaries of distance or decency when it comes to attacking its current and former residents in their sleep to leave ladybits where manbits used to be, and manbits where... you get the picture.

So might the maid, if you forgot to leave the Do Not Disturb sign out.

Believe it or not, she hadn't expected him to do that. And after a few gender switches already, Jaina wasn't nearly as self-conscious as she used to be. Well, except for having parts she wasn't used to having. Which may have been why she kept her hands off of him for the moment, again to see the reaction.

"You think I'm going to tell you that?" she asked, teasing.

"No, because we're secretive people," John answered, settling comfortably on top of Jaina and inspecting the line of her shoulders with his fingertips.

"I don't have a lot of secrets from you," Jaina pointed out, daring to move her hands to his hips. And it was technically true. She had things she hadn't told him, but there wasn't much she actively tried to keep from him.

"But some?" Now John was really interested, his hands going into her hair to feel the difference. "I admit it, I'm curious."

"You don't want to hear about it," she assured him, fingers rubbing lightly over his sides. Most of what she deliberately kept to herself had to do with how she felt about him and things related to that, and that was kind of a big subject. "And the other stuff just hasn't come up in conversation."

"Of course you say that," John replied teasingly, deciding not to take anything very seriously today.

"It's true," she told him, more than okay with not being too serious. "Both parts."

"Does that mean you're going to tell me now how you're secretly into girls?" He couldn't help laughing just a bit.

"No," she said with a little smile. And keeping things light, she said, "Though there is one girl I might be a little into currently."

John would accept that as a win, pressing closer to wrap his arms around her neck. "It's good you keep an open mind about these things."

"It's not like we've never done anything like this before," Jaina pointed out. She'd just been a girl for it. And she'd be lying if she said she wasn't a little curious.

"It's been a while. You might've gotten boring in all those years away." Hanging out with people he deemed boring.

"Does that mean you don't think I've gotten boring?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Depends," he said, lifting a finger to trace that eyebrow. "Though I think you won't have trouble proving it."

She let go of him with one hand to catch his hand in hers, kissing it lightly. "We're so doing this again when we're both normal," Jaina said. "We just are." She had a feeling there might be a need to erase some weird.

"Like you have to make an appointment for it," he said, shaking his head at her for a moment before deciding he didn't like the feel of the long hair against his neck.

"You mean you're not going to pencil me in on your calendar?" she joked, brushing his hair back to lean in and kiss his neck. This was still a little weird.

It was really weird, but it didn't feel bad so he didn't pull back. "You're funny, thinking I have a calendar."

She kissed up to his jaw, partly trying to get used to this. And it did take some getting used to. "Hey, I don't know. You could keep it in that office you don't use."

John noticed the difference in her skin, dropping his hands down against her back. "I use it. In that I go there to eat lunch sometimes."

His hands felt different against her back, and while that was fine, she sort of missed his hands. "Oh. Well, in that case, sorry for being so wrong," she said, dropping a kiss on his chin.
