Vail Ski Resort | Sunday Morning, 10/17

The Fandomites' last morning in Vail dawned cool and clear, the resort warm enough to get by with a light jacket, the slopes above frosty and crisp.

The portal back to Fandom would arrive after lunch, so now was time for packing, last-minute souvenir-shopping, or one final lift up the mountain to the wonderful land of snow-sports.

Or alternatively, freaking the heck out in your hotel room because Fandom knows no boundaries of distance or decency when it comes to attacking its current and former residents in their sleep to leave ladybits where manbits used to be, and manbits where... you get the picture.

So might the maid, if you forgot to leave the Do Not Disturb sign out.

...

"This is totally one of those 'I don't want to know' things, isn't it?"

Call it a wild guess.

And normally, Bobby would have left it at that and not elaborated, but it was, in a weird way, sort of connected to why he was all freaked out now, so: "I had a kid with a guy and now Sookie's a guy!" he whined.

Ooooooh.

"... And you're worried that's saying something about you? You're... kind of a girl right now, you know."

As was Warren. A fact which he was attempting to steadfastly ignore.

"I can't decide if that makes it better or worse," Bobby admitted. "I have a friend back home who, who- she switched. Made herself a boy. So that the person she loved would love her back." And that was getting all tangled up in his head with how he and Sookie had woken up today and it was just...

Confusing.

... That kind of struck Warren as the worst reason to change something so fundamental about oneself ever. But maybe he was just weird, or something.

"Maybe it's best not to think too hard about it," he volunteered. "And we can chalk it up to Fandom just messing around with us, like it always does."

Well, eventually it would be revealed that said person was actually a nebula and didn't really have a gender to speak of.

"Sometimes I really hate Fandom," Bobby moaned, getting up to rummage through the minibar for some three dollar M&Ms or something.

"It kinda helps to know it's not just Sookie and me," he admitted, giving Warren a relieved sort of half-smile.

Hey, Bobby could totally have his stupidly over-priced chocolate.

"Toss me a package of those, too?" It wasn't like Warren was going to be precious over six lousy dollars, after all. And damn it, he needed chocolate. "But yeah... Not just you two. Fandom thought it would be funny to do this to me, too. And Karla. And probably plenty of other people, too. Fandom has a twisted sense of humor."

"And we can't even just hide till it all goes away, because we have to leave at some point to catch the stupid portal," Bobby grumbled, handing Warren a package of chocolates before heading back to the other bed.
