Vail Ski Resort | Sunday Morning, 10/17

The Fandomites' last morning in Vail dawned cool and clear, the resort warm enough to get by with a light jacket, the slopes above frosty and crisp.

The portal back to Fandom would arrive after lunch, so now was time for packing, last-minute souvenir-shopping, or one final lift up the mountain to the wonderful land of snow-sports.

Or alternatively, freaking the heck out in your hotel room because Fandom knows no boundaries of distance or decency when it comes to attacking its current and former residents in their sleep to leave ladybits where manbits used to be, and manbits where... you get the picture.

So might the maid, if you forgot to leave the Do Not Disturb sign out.

"Not at first, no," Alexander had to admit with a faint smile as he took the shirt. "But I'm sure they'd warm up to you once they got to know you."

"As long as I don't stay a small pile of ash for too long," Maladicta added.

"No worries there," Alexander assured her. "I'll always e ready to change you back before any rough winds set in."

But there was a slight pause as he pictured Rosella just staking Maladicta again seconds after she'd returned to form.

"Does it hurt much?" he wondered, buttoning his shirt. "The whole turning into ash thing?"

"Not really. It's mostly just annoying." Now sunlight hurt. That was just horrid.

"That's good to hear, then," said Alexander, with a nod. Because, while annoying Maladicta had certain levels of fun to it, he'd never want to put her through pain if it could be avoided.

Maladicta snorted, smoothing his shirt so it lay right on her chest. "You're taking this change well, you know."

"As are you, I should note," Alexander pointed out. "It's very...strange, there is no denial in that, but it helps knowing first and foremost that I am not the only one this is happening too, and panicking or worrying about it will do us no good. Unless you think this is not one of those things and you believe nefarious forces may be at work?"

"If it's nefarious forces, I think between the pair of us, they don't really stand a chance." One can turn them into cats and the other can rip their heads off!

A comment like that could only make Alexander smile.

"Precisely" he said. "Nothing to worry about."

"Did we want to go see how well our classmates are faring?" Oh, that was evil there.

"We probably should," Alexander said in a tone of agreement. "Now that we're both somewhat suitably dressed, I feel it is almost our obligation to make sure that there is not trouble afoot and, if everyone is afflicted with a similar state, then it is most certainly one of those things and not something we should have to investigate."

"I have been hearing a lot of screams of horror..."

Re: Room 111

"A promising sign?" asked Alexander. "Should we prepare ourselves for magical gender-swapping pixies?"

"Pictsies? They'd be too drunk to do this."

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Or perhaps they're doing it because they're drunk," Alexander countered.

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] inneedofcoffee.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"...that would make sense." Damn you, Alexander!

Re: Room 111

"And people suggest blonde are dumb."

Still weird, yes, but that didn't mean he couldn't have fun with it. Especially since he was likely stuck with it for a little bit.

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] inneedofcoffee.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why would they assume that?" Because clearly it was gingers who are dumb.

Goddamn gingers.

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no, no. Gingers had no souls. That was different than having no brains.

But Alexander could only shrug. "I'm actually not sure, to be honest. It's just one of those things people assume, I believe. Like vampires sucking blood."

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] inneedofcoffee.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"But they do." A beat. "If they're not Black Ribboners."

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"But that's the point," Alexander said. "Some blondes are not too terribly smart, either."

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] inneedofcoffee.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Maladicta gave him a careful once over. "Yes, I suppose I can see that."

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
True, Maladicta had superhuman reflexes and would probably be able to avoid, if not catch, it, but that did not mean she was any less deserving of having a pillow thrown at her right now.

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] inneedofcoffee.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"I never said anything about you!" she insisted with a grin, grabbing the pillow before it could hit.

Re: Room 111

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"You may not have," said Alexander, "but your eyes are a different story!"
