Vail Ski Resort | Sunday Morning, 10/17

The Fandomites' last morning in Vail dawned cool and clear, the resort warm enough to get by with a light jacket, the slopes above frosty and crisp.

The portal back to Fandom would arrive after lunch, so now was time for packing, last-minute souvenir-shopping, or one final lift up the mountain to the wonderful land of snow-sports.

Or alternatively, freaking the heck out in your hotel room because Fandom knows no boundaries of distance or decency when it comes to attacking its current and former residents in their sleep to leave ladybits where manbits used to be, and manbits where... you get the picture.

So might the maid, if you forgot to leave the Do Not Disturb sign out.

"Fine!" Bobby yelled back, that voice somehow equal amounts reassuring (that it wasn't just him and Sookie) and unnerving (Warren was a girl). "I'm totally counting, just so you know."

Counting?

"How many seconds are in a moment, anyhow?" Warren wondered as he rummaged for something to cover his... new assets with. He had plenty of shirts! And they pretty much all hung down to his knees.

Which, at this point, was better than nothing. His harness didn't fit at all, and so he was going to have to settle for just holding his wings against his back as firmly as possible.

And, looking something like a bedraggled, slightly shellshocked girl about to do a walk of shame, he opened the door and waved a hand, kind of frantically inviting Bobby in before people could see the feathers sticking out the back.

"I don't know, War," and the nickname probably gave away just who this girl who'd demanded to be let inside was, if Warren hadn't figured that one out already. "Twelve," he decided arbitrarily.
wwiii: (Girly - Hmm)

Nope, Warren hadn't had a clue. But whoever had been on the other side of the door had known his name, and that had been good enough for him. In retrospect, not the brightest move. But he was certainly relieved at the nickname, at least.

"Twelve seconds in a moment," he replied, shaking his head incredulously. "And did I make it?"

Nope. Not even close.

"Nooooot even," Bobby shook his head, giving an annoyed sigh when a lock of hair took that as an invitation to get all in his eyes.

"You're all hot as a girl," Bobby observed resignedly. Of course Warren made a hot girl. Of course. And look, if anyone thought that him remarking on that was odd, well... other-Warren had asked Bobby if he could hook up with Bobby-as-a-girl, not knowing it was actually Bobby. So this was turnabout being fair play or- something. The logic was faulty at best given cross-dimensional issues, but Bobby's logic wasn't the soundest even on days when he was in possession of all the right parts.

"Am I?" Warren looked down again. God help him, he shouldn't have looked down again. "I wouldn't know. I haven't even had a chance to look in the mirror yet."

Too busy freaking out. And hoping and praying that so long as the day went on, he wouldn't find himself having to pee.

"... You're not too bad, yourself."

Helpful, Warren.

"I know," Bobby said, taking twelve seconds a moment from freaking out to be smug. "But Sookie," he declared dramatically, flopping down on the unmade of Warren's two beds, "is a boy."

[personal profile] wwiii 2010-10-17 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"And so is Karla," Warren replied, smirking a little at Bobby's smugness. And his... inherent Bobby-ness, mostly. Bobby warranted smirking at. Even with boobies. "Apparently this is just something that... happens, huh?"

Which left Warren wondering if he should pack for two genders on every trip.

"Not usually outside of Fandom," Bobby grumbled. "Although there'd been that one time with the stupid suitcases."

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] wwiii 2010-10-17 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Suitcases?"

Did Warren want to know about the suitcases? He suspected that he didn't. But then, he'd already pretty much asked, hadn't he?

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2010-10-17 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes," Bobby moaned, grabbing a pillow and putting it over his face for a few moments in an effort to hide from... the world, or something, before realizing that was stupid because 1) it wasn't like the world could see him right now, just Warren, and 2) it made it a lot harder to talk. "Random luggage that just appeared. Labeled with crap declaring me a freak and afraid of normal people and stuff like that," he admitted.
wwiii: (Girly - Poutyface)

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] wwiii 2010-10-17 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. That luggage."

Yep. Warren had been there for that. He'd just done a damn good job putting it out of mind.

... Rapture had helped with that.

"I got those ones, too. They followed me to class."

Having a giant handbag show up in the middle of a conversation, announcing to the world that he'd attempted to saw off his own wings? Had been crappy.

"It couldn't be the fun sort of weirdness that follows us around?" Bobby complained. "I would've have minded spending my last day of vacation being five. For example."

"If that happened, I would have ended up babysitting again, I bet," Warren noted. "Not that I mind, but giving kids flights around here would be a bit of a challenge."
longislandiceme: (girl!bobby smile)

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2010-10-17 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aw, but you made an awesome babysitter," Bobby grinned. "Of course, I might be biased..."

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] wwiii 2010-10-17 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't even know what I'm doing with kids," Warren protested. And that had been because his own childhood had sucked. Yes. "At least I didn't drop any of them."

Yes. That would have been bad.

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2010-10-17 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"You took care of me just fine," Bobby pointed out. "And my tiny herd of offspring, which is not a sentence I'd ever thought I'd hear myself say ever, much less at seventeen."
wwiii: (Girly - Hmm)

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] wwiii 2010-10-17 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"They were calling me Uncle Warren." A pause. "In French."

What had been up with that, anyhow?

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2010-10-17 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, to be fair, only one of them had done so...

"Yeeeeeah," and Bobby was going to just reach for that pillow again and mumble something unintelligible.

"This is totally one of those 'I don't want to know' things, isn't it?"

Call it a wild guess.

And normally, Bobby would have left it at that and not elaborated, but it was, in a weird way, sort of connected to why he was all freaked out now, so: "I had a kid with a guy and now Sookie's a guy!" he whined.

Re: Room 223

Ooooooh.

"... And you're worried that's saying something about you? You're... kind of a girl right now, you know."

As was Warren. A fact which he was attempting to steadfastly ignore.

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2010-10-18 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
"I can't decide if that makes it better or worse," Bobby admitted. "I have a friend back home who, who- she switched. Made herself a boy. So that the person she loved would love her back." And that was getting all tangled up in his head with how he and Sookie had woken up today and it was just...

Confusing.
wwiii: (Girly - Hmm)

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] wwiii 2010-10-18 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
... That kind of struck Warren as the worst reason to change something so fundamental about oneself ever. But maybe he was just weird, or something.

"Maybe it's best not to think too hard about it," he volunteered. "And we can chalk it up to Fandom just messing around with us, like it always does."

Re: Room 223

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2010-10-18 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well, eventually it would be revealed that said person was actually a nebula and didn't really have a gender to speak of.

"Sometimes I really hate Fandom," Bobby moaned, getting up to rummage through the minibar for some three dollar M&Ms or something.

"It kinda helps to know it's not just Sookie and me," he admitted, giving Warren a relieved sort of half-smile.
