Vail Ski Resort | Sunday Morning, 10/17

The Fandomites' last morning in Vail dawned cool and clear, the resort warm enough to get by with a light jacket, the slopes above frosty and crisp.

The portal back to Fandom would arrive after lunch, so now was time for packing, last-minute souvenir-shopping, or one final lift up the mountain to the wonderful land of snow-sports.

Or alternatively, freaking the heck out in your hotel room because Fandom knows no boundaries of distance or decency when it comes to attacking its current and former residents in their sleep to leave ladybits where manbits used to be, and manbits where... you get the picture.

So might the maid, if you forgot to leave the Do Not Disturb sign out.

Having heard some annoyed chatter, John rolled over. His hand sought out his bedmate with the thought that it was the last day and Jaina really needed to listen to him and try this whole staying in bed thing while the chance was there.

Normally Jaina wouldn't take much convincing there, and... okay, the odds of her leaving the room like this right away weren't that great so it was like half a win for John there. "This is really not a good time," Jaina groused, opening her eyes and looking over at him.

Huh.

John lifted his head from the pillow and frowned, "Well, you can't say Jacen didn't--" As soon as he really heard his own voice the cursing cut in. "Oh fuck me!" So many reasons to be pissed about being a girl today.

"Not right now," Jaina said automatically. "At least it's both of us this time." In a weird way it did make her feel better.

"At least?" The bitchface was somehow more powerful when he was a girl. "You're kidding me, right?"

It was an impressive bitchface, and one that was familiar considering how many times Jaina had seen it before. "Yes, at least. If it was just me I'd be throwing a fit right now."

John reached out to give Jaina's shoulder a nudge. He was kind of jealous of how hot she looked as a guy. "At least you aged well."

Jaina snorted. "Thanks. And I don't even need a mirror to know what I look like." And don't think looking like someone she was still a little mad at wasn't weird. "I'm glad you're still looking like... you."

Because she'd seen girl!John once or twice. It was actually a little comforting.

There was that bitchface again. "You know, if this lasts a week again, I'm blaming you."

"It is not going to last a week," Jaina said strongly. "I am not going to look like this for a week."

"You say that like your brother doesn't always look like that." And damn, John needed to see Jacen again.

"That's exactly my point. And my brother should always look like this. I shouldn't." And if it lasted a week she'd have to teach like this, and given the people in her class...

"And also, we're on vacation...how does the island do this to us?" Cruelty.

"It hates us," Jaina said. "This stuff should not be allowed to follow us around. It's just not right."

She paused. "Actually, this stuff should not be allowed to happen at all."

John pulled himself up to hug his pillow. "Now you just have to make it stop. Get to that, I'll nap."

"You can really nap like this?" Jaina was still too annoyed to even consider that.

"Jaina, I was like this for a week in college," he reminded her. "It's annoying, but shit, I'm just glad I wasn't on Atlantis when it happened. Also? It's either sleep more or pack."

"Oh, so I don't have to raid your packed bags for clothes when I need to get dressed then. Good to know." Yes, she had decided to steal his clothes.

That got John's attention. "Hey! No stealing my stuff. Deal with your own."

"I seem to remember you getting a lot of use out of my clothing for that week," Jaina pointed out. And he'd stretched out some of her shirts. Sigh. "It's not stealing, it's borrowing."

"No way, you'll wreck my shirts with those shoulders," he declared, sitting up to stop Jaina as needed.

"I think I'm still smaller than you," Jaina protested, sitting up, too. She actually didn't know, but she'd still been on the small side last time she'd turned into a guy. The Y chromosome helped a little, but she'd still gotten stuck with the short genes. Thanks, Leia.

John had the gift of being long and slender regardless of whether he was male or female. "Shorter," he scoffed, flipping his hair and glancing down because he could.

"Fine, shorter. I still won't be stretching out your stuff," Jaina said. "My other option is to walk around shirtless in Colorado while it's snowing while I try to find clothes."

John smirked just a little at that idea. "Now that sounds like a plan."
